How the pokémon go evolution calculator works
A Pokémon GO evolution calculator estimates post-evolution CP without needing the individual IVs when both forms remain at the same level. Evolution preserves Attack, Defense, and Stamina IVs and the CPM, but changes the species base stats. A base-stat product ratio therefore gives a quick estimate from current CP.
The exact CP formula contains base stat plus IV for each component, so a ratio using base stats alone is an approximation. It is close for many species but can miss because the same IVs are a larger fraction of a low base stat, and because both the current and evolved CP are floored. For exact work, use known IVs in the GO IV formula for both stages.
Evolution does not normally change level. Powering up before or after evolution reaches the same stat outcome at a given final level, although candy and stardust decisions may differ. Some species have branching evolutions, form restrictions, or special evolution requirements; choose the actual target form rather than assuming one route.
The target and source fields load offline GO base stats from the species snapshot. Main-series base stats are not interchangeable with GO’s converted Attack, Defense, and Stamina. Mega, Primal, temporary, costume, regional, and other alternate forms are outside the canonical snapshot unless separately identified.
Worked example
A 500 CP specimen with source GO bases 118/111/128 and target bases 223/173/186 uses a ratio of about 2.845. floor(500 × ratio) gives an estimate of 1,422 CP. Exact IV-aware calculation can land a little above or below that value because each base receives its preserved IV before multiplication.
How to read the result
Use the result as a planning range, not a guaranteed screenshot value. A small discrepancy is expected from the ratio approximation. If a CP league cap matters, calculate with exact IVs and level before evolving, and confirm the selected target is the correct form.
